RØDE returns with second edition of its podcasting competition

RØDE Microphones has announced the return of My RØDE Cast, the annual podcasting competition that was launched in 2019.

This year’s My RØDE Cast prize pool tops off at $150,000 worth of RØDE podcasting gear, including the RØDECaster Pro Podcast Production Studio, Podcasters and PodMics, NT-USB Minis and accessories.

There is also Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions, sound effect packs from soundeffects.com, and acoustic kits from Primacoustic to be won. There are three prize packs up for grabs: the Major Prize, Runner Up and People’s Choice.

To go into the running, podcasters are invited to submit an original podcast, 1-2 minutes in length. This can be on any topic and in any style – a condensed version of an existing podcast, a teaser for a longer episode, or a snappy show. Anyone can enter, even if you’re a beginner.

To enter My RØDE Cast, go to myrodecast.com, register or log in to receive the starter pack, record your podcast and upload it to My RØDE Cast hosting platform Anchor. Then, log in to your My RØDE Cast account and submit your podcast.

Share your podcast far and wide – there’s a People Choice prize to be won.

Click here for the full details on how to enter. Entries close June 16.

A panel of podcasting heavyweights from different corners of the industry will decide on the winners. They’ll be looking for podcasts that are original, engaging, and leave them wanting more. They’ll also be judging the production of each podcast – audio quality, editing skills, use of music and sound effects, flow and delivery. The panel includes:

Hrishikesh Hirway

Hrishikesh Hirway is the Creator and Host of Song Exploder, a podcast where musicians break down the creative process behind their songs (and has featured such distinguished guests as Fleetwood Mac, Iggy Pop, St. Vincent and Tame Impala). He's a musician himself and has released four albums under the name The One AM Radio, and composed scores for film and television. Hrishi is also the Co-host and Producer of the podcasts The West Wing Weekly and Home Cooking.

Jacob Salamon

Jacob Salamon is the Co-Founder of WISECRACK, a Los Angeles-based media collective of podcasters, artists, filmmakers, comedians and academics who share an endless curiosity for exploring and questioning the world. At WISECRACK, Jacob fuses his passions for design, education, broadcasting, and technology by serving as the Creative Director and Producer for all its projects. WISECRACK’s content, including numerous podcasts, reaches more than 50 million people per month.

Leah Harris

Leah Harris is Australia's Podcast Producer at Spotify, the world’s most popular global audio streaming subscription service with 271m users, including 124m subscribers, across 79 markets. Spotify transformed music listening forever when it launched in Sweden in 2008 and today offers subscribers audio content for every moment, every day, everywhere with over 50 million tracks, including 700,000 podcast titles.

This year the contest will also be accepting entries from China. The winners will be chosen by a second panel of judges, which includes Zhang Dong, Vice Director of the Sound of Music program on China National Radio and Chief Content Officer of Yunting; Yin Qiming, multiple National News Award winner, Vice President and Chief Editor of Himalaya FM (China’s biggest audio sharing platform) and Vice President of Copyright Society of China; and celebrated writer, director and actor Zhou Jianlong. There will also be three separate prize packs for entries from China.
