Radio Japan plans music night for Vietnamese fans

Japan’s international radio broadcaster NHK World Radio Japan will put on a singing contest for fans of Japanese songs in Vietnam.

The competition is part of a concert being held in Ho Chi Minh city later this month.

The station will also fly in Japanese singer-songwriter Mariko Hata to record a special edition of the popular programme ‘Let’s Sing In Japanese’ in front of the audience.

Rising Vietnamese actress Nguyen Lan Phuong will also perform tracks from popular Japanese pop groups.

The song contest will make up the second half of the live show, giving fans the chance to sing their own favourite Japanese songs.

Over the years, many classic Japanese hits have been translated into Vietnamese.

The show – set for October 26 – will also be translated and broadcast in 16 other languages.
