Radio City Freedom Awards ceremony nears

India’s Radio City 91.1 FM is set to celebrate independent music in the country with Radio City Freedom Awards (RCFA) on Wednesday.

The awards, which seek to promote indie talent across genres and languages, are an open competition and are in their second year.

They will honour the best Hip-Hop/Rap, Folk Fusion, Pop, Rock, Metal and Electronica artists.

This year’s edition also features three new categories – Best Young Indie Artist/Band, Best Indie Collaboration of the Year and Indie Genius – Person of the Year.

While the Best Young Indie Artist/Band will be decided by public votes, the other two categories will be Judges’ Choice Awards.

The winners will be chosen after a finale in Delhi on December 3.

Last year’s awards featured winning acts like Enkore, Benny Dayal, Indus Creed, Shankar Tucker, Chaos and Dualist Enquiry.
