Philippines: DHSUD, Radyo Pilipinas launch program on housing, urban development

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Presidential Broadcast Service-Bureau of Broadcast Services (PBS-BBS) have launched a weekly radio program to amplify public awareness of government housing units and urban development under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program.

The pilot episode of “DHSUD Kapihan sa Radyo” premiered live on Radyo Pilipinas 1 (738 kHz Manila) from 3 to 4 pm on April 29.

It was hosted by DHSUD Undersecretary for Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Service (SCPAS) Randy Escolango, and SCPAS Directors Mario Mallari and Cristine Pascual-Bello.

It highlighted the agency’s major initiatives, including the 4PH, Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program, Pasig River Urban Development Project focused on environmental and urban renewal, and PLANADO, which is an initiative advancing strategic land use and urban planning.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar said the radio program expands public access to vital housing and urban development information.

“This collaboration allows us to break barriers and widen our reach to our stakeholders. ‘Kapihan sa Radyo’ is not just a program — it’s our voice, our bridge to the Filipino people,” he said.

Through every episode, we hope to ignite hope, inspire dreams, and build inclusive and sustainable communities where no Filipino is left behind,” he added.

The PBS-BBS will air every Tuesday, covering a total of 27 episodes that will run until October 2025.
