Oye! 104.8 FM takes Bollywood to border

India’s Oye! 104.8 FM reached out to Border Security Force (BSF) soldiers posted at the border with Pakistan at Wagah to celebrate the country’s independence day on Friday.

As part of the its ‘Bollywood to Border’ initiative, the station took personalised messages from famous Indian film stars to the soldiers.

These included Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor, John Abraham, Emran Hashmi, Sonakshi Sinha, Nawazudin Siddiqui, Mahesh Bhatt and Kay Kay Menon.

Audio recordings of the stars paying tributes and expressing gratitude for the soldiers’ bravery were played out and written their messages were put on display.

The event was attended by BSF soldiers, IG BSF Punjab Frontier Ashok Kumar and DIG M F Farooqi along with thousands of visitors and station’s listeners.

Oye! FM RJ Nitin Kakkar from Mumbai, RJ Piyush from New Delhi and RJ Heer from Amritsar provided entertainment for the crowd.

The high point of the evening was musical performances by Ankit Tiwari and Kailash Kher, which were enjoyed by audience on both sides of the border.

The celebrations ended with the ‘beating the retreat’ ceremony.
