New GM for Singapore’s SAFRA Radio

Doreen Ong, GM of Singapore’s SAFRA Radio is to leave the company after more than four years.

Replacing her will be Kim Leon, who has been seconded from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) where she was Head, Public Communications of the Public Affairs Directorate.

In that role, she oversaw the management of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Music & Drama Company in its strategic mission, HR, finance, administration and creative aspects.

She joins on March 1.

SAFRA Radio is owned by the SAFRA National Service Association and operates Chinese station 88.3Jia FM and English station Power 98FM.

Current boss Ong joined the company in 2009 and previously worked with research giant Nielsen and outdoor media firm Moove Media.

The company has also picked a new Deputy GM, N Kumaresan, who spent more than 15 years with Singapore’s largest broadcaster MediaCorp.

His last appointment was Assistant Vice President in the radio division.
