Nepal radio broadcasters join media to pressure government

The Association of Community Radio Broadcasters and FM Radio Broadcasters Forum in Nepal have joined other media groups to pressure the government to promulgate the country’s new constitution within the set deadline.

Nepal’s political parties in the Constituent Assembly had promised they would write the constitution by January 22, 2015.

The media’s campaign aims to pressure the parties to complete the outstanding issues of the new constitution and hold a public debate to remind them about their public commitment.

“It is unfortunate that though the deadline is approaching, even a preliminary draft of the constitution is yet to be prepared. And there is no consensus among parties,” read a joint the statement by Nepal’s media associations.
