Mirchi relives golden days of Indian cinema

Bollywood celebrities Dimple Kapadia and Akshay Kumar are helping bolster Radio Mirchi’s night-time retro offering.

The station has brought back ‘Agar Tum Na Hote!’ for Season 2 hosted by RJ Anmol.

The show relives the golden era of Indian cinema through the eyes of actors and other renowned film industry creatives including filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehr, screenwriter Prasoon Joshi and playback singer Sonu Nigam.

Among the legends being profiled are Rajesh Khanna – known as India’s first superstar, acclaimed playback singer Mohammed Rafi, screenwriters Kaifi Azmi, Javed Akhtar and lead actress Shabana Azmi.

“Agar Tum Na Hote!’ is a feature within Radio Mirchi’s night-time show Purani Jeans which runs nationwide from 9pm-12midnight Monday to Friday.

RJ Anmol has promised to uncover many of the secrets of the era during season 2.

“With this show, I will be exploring all minute areas of films, aspects of life of the stars, musical notes of the songs and words that went into making some of the most soulful songs from this era,” he said.

Radio Mirchi operates in 32 Indian cities and is a subsidiary of the Times of India.
