Mirchi Music Awards South set for Hyderabad

India’s Radio Mirchi will hold its 5th Mirchi Music Awards South 2013 to honour south Indian film music in Hyderabad.

The city is home to the Telugu language film industry, often dubbed Tollywood.

The awards night on August 16 at Annapurna Studios will bring together big names from four southern states with their own local film industries.

Films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam are made in the states of Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala respectively.

Sixteen awards will be handed out in each language, while ‘Best Song of the Year’ and ‘Best Album of the year’ awards will be based on listeners’ voting.

The jury – featuring eminent south Indian film personalities – will have two panels.

The Screening Jury will shortlist nominations while the Grand Jury will select the winners under each category.

Grand Jury members include S.Narayan, V Manohar,V Harikrishna Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, Dr.Suman Kittur, Kaviraj, Manikanth Kadri, Arjun Janya, Gurukiran, K.Kalyan.

The Screening jury features Veer Samrath, Vani Harikrishna, Santhosh Venky, Chandan Shetty, Bharath BJ, Murali Rayasam, Sachina Heggar, Sai Kiran, Hrudaya Shiva and Raghavendra BK.

Speaking on the occasion, Prashant Pandey, CEO, Radio Mirchi said: “The awards are a medium for us to extend our love and respect to the film industry which has been so supportive.”
