Mediacorp radio stations claim No1 position

MediaCorp’s Y.E.S. 93.3FM has once again claimed the top spot following the release of the latest Singapore radio ratings, achieving a 20.3 percent share of the audience.

But the latest Nielsen Radio Diary Survey (April/May) shows the figures are down from the 21.8 percent achieved during the last research period (September/October 2013).

The company’s two other Chinese stations Love 97.2FM and Capital 95.8FM remain in second and third place with a listenership of 18.5 percent and 16.9 percent respectively.  That compares with 20.1 percent and 17.1 per cent last time.

Rebecca Yap, Assistant Vice-President for Chinese Programming, Radio Division, MediaCorp paid tribute to the stations’ fans for their support during the latest survey period adding that her team would “strive to bring more exciting programmes and content to our listeners.”

MediaCorp’s Class 95 has maintained its number one ranking among all English stations – when measured by cume – fighting off tough competition from Kiss 92, which claimed the number one position when measured by share of audience.

Class 95 saw its cume increase to 15.6 percent, while youth station 987FM also saw a tremendous jump from 8 to 10.6 percent cume.

The station now claims to be the No.1 Hit Music Station in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Gold 90.5FM achieved the highest time spent listening.

“We’re delighted that you love listening to us, and let us into your lives everyday,” said Georgina Chang, Vice-President for English Programming (Music), Radio Division, MediaCorp. “This makes us more determined to create even more enriching content for you, ” she added.

Nielsen’s research is released to stations but not publicly and cannot be independently verified.
