MediaCorp launches Singapore Woman Award 2014

Five of MediaCorp’s thirteen stations, together with its other media platforms, are helping draw nominees for the Singapore Woman Award 2014.

English stations 938LIVE, Class 95FM and Gold 90.5FM along with Chinese stations Capital 95.8FM and Love 97.2FM are putting out the call among their listeners.

Now into its seventh year, the prize has been described as a celebration of the ordinary woman who has made extraordinary achievements.  The Singapore Woman Award recognizes those who inspire others to be the best that they can be.

Last year the title went to Porsche Poh Sow Chan, who founded the NGO Silver Ribbon (Singapore) in 2006 to reduce the stigma around mental illness and encourage early treatment.

Previous winners include breast cancer survivor Theresa Tan and Bernise Ang, who runs a non-profit organisation that helps young people create meaningful social change.

Nominees must be Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents and have a minimum of two years track record of outstanding achievements with details of her demonstrated success.

She must not be a winner nor have been involved in the judging of any previous awards of a similar nature.

The closing date for entries is February 10.

The awards gala night will take place on March 12 at the Grand Hyatt, Singapore.
