Mediacorp to deliver comprehensive multiplatform coverage of the 30th SEA Games

Mediacorp will deliver more choice to fans following the 30th SEA Games, with coverage on multiple platforms. Across three dedicated channels on Toggle, selected sports and daily highlights on Channel 5 and curated content on Toggle’s YouTube channel, sports fans will be spoilt for choice. For sports news buffs, CNA will provide timely updates across its platforms including TV, digital, YouTube and Telegram.

The 30th SEA Games, taking place in venues across Manila, Clark and Subic in the Philippines from 30 November to 11 December 2019, is billed as the biggest edition in the history of the regional, biennial multi-sport games. Some 9,000 athletes representing 11 countries are expected to compete in 530 events across a record 56 sports.

Significantly, Team Singapore will be sending its biggest away contingent for the SEA Games, with 647 athletes competing in 48 sports. Some of these athletes will be making their debut in a number of new sports: breaking (dancesport), e-sports, beach handball, ju-jitsu, kurash, sambo, skateboarding, surfing and underwater hockey. Fans can catch Team Singapore’s winning moments and daily highlights on demand on Toggle and its YouTube channel.

Over the last few years, Mediacorp has steadily grown its audiences for major sporting events with a combined digital and linear platform strategy. For the upcoming SEA Games, Mediacorp will have live coverage across three dedicated SEA Games channels on Toggle (toggle.sg/seagames2019), covering popular events like athletics, aquatics (diving and swimming), badminton, basketball, football, table tennis, volleyball as well as e-sports, gymnastics, boxing and sepak takraw.

Daily Action at the Games and Today at the Games will cover the most spectacular competitive moments. The latter, featuring highlights of Team Singapore competing at the Games, will be hosted by TV personality Kelly Latimer. Mediacorp artiste Chen Yi Xi will also be bringing audiences the sights, sounds and cuisines happening on the sidelines of the SEA Games and introduce new sports added this year in Games+, short clips content shown on free-to-air, digital and social media platforms.

Irene Lim, Chief Customer Officer, Mediacorp said: “As Singapore’s national media network and the Official Media Network of the 30th SEA Games, Mediacorp is committed to ensuring that viewers enjoy comprehensive coverage of the SEA Games.
