According to the Media Specialists Association (MSA), digital advertising in Malaysia is growing at 25-35 percent per year and the radio industry stands to gain from this rise.
“Radio advertising has been experiencing healthy year-on-year growth, making this one of the most exciting and dynamic industries in Malaysia,” it said in a recent report.
This is an encouraging sign for the radio industry and advertisers, who have welcomed and embraced digital technology to remain competitive.
Overall, the advertising industry is still growing 5 to 6 percent on average year-on-year.
According to market research firm Nielsen Malaysia, total spending on monitored media grew to $840 million (RM2.7billion) in the first three months of 2013 from $703.5 (RM2.26billion) previously.
There is uncertainty how the Malaysian advertising market has been affected by the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
However several large advertising campaigns were postponed due to the tragedy.
