Listener Lo Hei signals start of CNY festivities

2014 is the Chinese year of the Horse, and Gold 90.5 FM, Singapore came up with an innovative way of ushering in good luck and prosperity in the Lunar new year.

It invited eight lucky listeners and their partners were to pose for a picture with real horse at Gallop Stable at Horse City together with the Gold 90.5FM DJs .

Saturday’s get-together was followed by a Chinese New Year Feast including a sumptuous Salmon Sashimi Yu Sheng.

The Yu Sheng or Lo Hei (Cantonese) is a traditional ceremony where everyone at the table will help toss a salad of vegetables and raw fish with their chopsticks while saying various “auspicious” wishes.

Listeners also got to dip into Gold 90.FM’s treasure chest filled with real gold coins.

No one walked home empty-handed as the station gave out $500 cash in total with one lucky winner winning the grand prize of $188.
