IPL broadcast in three languages in the Gulf

Radio commentaries in three languages of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket games are getting positive feedback from listeners, reports The Gulf News.

Dubai-based Channel 2, which has the exclusive radio rights for in the region for the seventh edition of IPL, is providing live ball-by-ball coverage in English, Hindi and Malayalam on 89.1 Radio 4FM and Gold FM.

Interestingly, Cricket Radio – which was was founded by Channel 2 in 2009 to broadcast over the internet – was launched by Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar, who is now the interim president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for IPL.

Former Indian skipper Kapil Dev is the director of Channel 2.

“Gavaskar and Kapil Dev have been the leading expert commentators on our radio station for many years as we have broadcast all ICC World Cups since 2007 globally,” Ajay Sethi, the Dubai-based Channel 2 Group Corporation chairman and founder of Cricket Radio, told The Gulf News.
