Flying Dutchman set for Gold Singapore move

One of Singapore’s longest serving radio personalities is leaving Class 95, his radio home for the past 17 years.

But The Flying Dutchman won’t be going far as he’s joining fellow MediaCorp station Gold 90.5FM where, once again, he will host the morning show.

FD – as he’s known and whose real name is Mark van Cuylenburg –  joined Class 95 in 1996 after beginning his radio career at cable channel Rediffusion.

He later became one half of Joe and The Flying Dutchman with co-host Joe Augustin.

He then teamed up with Glenn Ong, who has been his radio partner for the past 10 years.

The Morning Express quickly became the highest rated English morning show and led to him being picked to host the Singapore version of TV game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Speaking about the move to Gold, FD said: My race has been run on Class 95FM. Now I am looking forward to and am extremely excited about my next race on Gold 90.5FM. I can’t wait.”

FD will co-host the morning show with former Class 95 colleague Vernetta Lopez from August 20.

His new boss, Erina Cook, the station’s Senior Programme Director said: “Gold 90.5FM has been waiting a long time to have FD on our station. His enthusiasm for the music of the  70’s to 90’s will definitely hit home with our listeners. Having worked for many years together, FD and Vernetta have superb chemistry, it’ll just be like waking up to good friends!”

His last show on Class 95 on August 19 is likely to be memorable!
