Execs reappointed to Malaysian radio industry body

Council members of Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), which represents the country’s 21 commercial radio stations, recently unanimously agreed to extend the term of its key executives.

The association coordinates regulatory issues, listener engagement activities and shared resources for research ratings.

Radio industry veteran Kudsia Kahar retains her post as CRM President together with Malek Ali (Honorary Treasurer), Yusry Abu Samah (Honorary Secretary) and Seelan Paul (Vice-President).

Speaking after her reappointment, Kudsia said: “Prospects for the commercial radio industry remain buoyant. Radio today is multi-faceted and available across multiple platforms. Content still leads – and it’s our job to ensure that we offer compelling entertainment, news, and information within the parameters of our respective formats.”

One of CRM’s primary goals for the year is to ensure that policymakers and regulators work jointly to create a positive forward momentum in terms of content creation and reach.

CRM also plans a workshop to engage advertising and media agencies to refashion airtime opportunities through innovative campaigns.

It also plans to introduce the Radio Hall of Fame platform to acknowledge the contributions of radio personalities from the past decades.
