Embassy launches radio app for Filipina expats

The Philippine Embassy in Washington DC is launching an app to access its virtual radio platform Radyo Tambuli.

According to GMA News, the app will keep some 3.5 million Filipinos in the US updated about the Philippines on their mobile phones.

The first diplomatic mission to develop its own mobile app for public diplomacy efforts, the Philippine Embassy launched Radyo Tambuli in April on a call-to-listen platform.

It offers news, original Filipino music, interviews, opinion surveys and coverage of town-hall meetings.

Content from premier Filipino broadcasters such as Veritas, People’s Television Network and the Catholic Media Network is also available on the station.

The app, which will be available on Android and iOS platforms by the second week of October will also feature public opinion polls, direct messaging with the embassy and push notifications.
