Danny C – the host of Radio 1 Dubai’s breakfast show ’Rude Awakening’, is the latest to take up the Ice Bucket Challenge, reports Gulf news.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is a global viral video campaign which involves dumping a bucket of ice cold water on one’s head to raise awareness for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).

People taking the challenge nominate other participants, giving them 24 hours from the time they are nominated to complete the dare, or donate $100 to charity.

Danny C, whose real name is Daniel Creighton, took the challenge on Monday after many listeners nominated him.

Creighton appeared in the video of the challenge wearing Radio 1 speedos at the behest of his co-host Surina Kelly.

He has now nominated Radio 1 staffers Nick Robinson and Sheena Kay along with Dubai’s Crown Prince, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Al Maktoum.

Speaking about the experience of being doused by a bucket of ice cold water in hot Dubai weather, Creighton said: “It was twice as bad as I expected — I think we’ve got it worse here because of the huge temperature difference.”
