Coronavirus prevention campaign on Bangladesh Community Radios

 

18 Bangladeshi Community Radio Broadcasters have started broadcasting program on Coronavirus Education for the rural people about the virus and the precautionary measures needed to escape the infection for making aware since March 1.

A broadcaster in each radio stations was assigned as the focal person to coordinate the special education program.

The stations are broadcasting four hours of programming on Coronavirus contamination, precautionary steps for preventing contamination, symptoms of the patients, service provider, service providing agencies and service delivery points, experts' opinions, and the role of rural people in line with WHO COVID-19: Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan Operational Planning Guidelines To Support Country Preparedness And Response.

The focal persons of the stations are collecting and following the information from Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Government of Bangladesh, UNICEF and WHO for developing programs about Coronavirus prevention in different formats like news, Public Service Announcement (PSA), radio talks, magazine, drama, jingles, interview and expert opinions.

Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) has been monitoring the situation 24 hours and coordinating with community radios on prevention of Coronavirus contamination, developing program guidelines and materials for by considering the situation and updating information. This awareness campaign will continue until the situation is normal.
