China readies for BIRTV exhibition

Around 500 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors are expected at the broadcast equipment exhibition BIRTV in China.

The show, which runs from August 21-24, started in 1987 and has grown into one of Asia’s largest technology expos.

Taking place at China’s International Exhibition Centre in Beijing,  BIRTV is co-organised by China Central Television (CCTV).

An awards ceremony and broadcasting summit take place on the sidelines of the exhibition on the opening day.

Wang Xiaohui, Vice President of China National Radio and Ma Weigong, Deputy Editor-in-chief of China Radio International will address delegates in the morning about the broadcasters’ success stories at home and abroad.

Other summit sessions will focus on China’s plans for an emergency broadcasting system and how technology can help achieve the integration of media production and operations.
