China Radio International launches new UK show

The same day when Chinese Premier Li Keqiang kicked off a visit to Britain, China Radio International (CRI), launched new programming on terrestrial radio in London.

The launch was a part of trilateral agreement between the state-owned broadcaster and Britain-based Propeller TV and Spectrum Radio.

According to the deal, CRI will offer 12-hours of locally produced English programming to air on a digital radio station in London.

The shows will also broadcast via Spectrum’s AM558 service in London for ten hours every day.

As part of a wider agreement, China and UK will consolidate cooperation in radio, TV, Internet, printing media, movie production, personnel exchange and resource sharing.

At the signing ceremony in London, CRI also launched an English portal website english.china.com, and a bilingual magazine ‘Opportunities China’ aimed at business and trade relations with Europe.
