Cambodia to host emergency broadcasting workshop

An emergency broadcasting workshop organised by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) will be held in Phom Penh, Cambodia, starting tomorrow.

The two day session aims to highlight how radio can save lives and alleviate suffering during disasters.

‘Broadcasters Can Save Lives’ has funded by Australian Aid and organised with the help of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

The main theme is information flow and effective broadcasting prior to and during times of disaster caused by natural hazards.

On the first day, participants will share lessons learned from typhoons Yolanda and Haiyan.

The second day includes building and testing country specific Emergency Broadcasting Plans and ensuring community awareness of disaster risk reduction campaigns.
