92.7 BIG FM Listeners will once again help pick the winners of this year’s BIG Marathi Entertainment Awards.

The nominees were announced on Tuesday.

The awards, which showcase the best talent from the Marathi language entertainment industry, will get a second run after first launching in 2010.

Twenty-one categories across film, television, music and theatre can be voted for, including one called BIG Contribution to Hindi Cinema, which will honor a Marathi actor who has created a niche for himself / herself in Bollywood.

As well as listener votes, a team of judges will help pick the winners.

Confirmed jury members include actor Vinay Apte, eminent Marathi stage actress Vandana Gupte and renowned film and theatre personality Bharat Dabholkar.

Commenting on Tuesday’s launch, Ashwin Padmanabhan, Business Head – 92.7 BIG FM said: “After the phenomenal success of the first edition, we are thrilled to be back with a second, bringing on-board a respected panel of jury members and great lineup of partners.”

“This year’s awards ceremony also promises to provide excellent integration options to our marketers and advertisers thereby enabling them to reach out to target audiences in the region.”

92.7 BIG FM broadcasts in 45 cities, including several in and around the state of Maharastra, where Marathi is mostly spoken.

Marathi is the 19th most spoken language in the world.

The awards will take place on August 30.
