988’s Chinese New Year drama

Malaysia’s 988 FM is launching a brand new Chinese New Year drama called ‘Wu Li Dan Tok Meng Cha Cha’ starting February 17.

The show, which is about humility and friendship, tells the story of two individuals who are involved in the tea business but drift apart due to a misunderstanding.

The 12-episode drama will air weekdays at 12 pm on the station.

988’s Cantonese radio drama is one of the station’s most popular signature programs.

According to GfK’s first RAM figures for 2014, the half-hour show garners 313,000 listeners weekly.

Loh Peng Sum, manager for 988’s Cantonese drama team said: “Storytelling is influential and powerful. Listeners get more excited to tune in as they can only imagine the characters based on their voice. Unlike TV, radio drama relies a lot on audio. There is where we play with creativity.”
