MediaCorp Singapore’s English station 987FM is currently conducting auditions for its ‘987 Radio Star’ contest to search for a new, dynamic radio DJ.

Into its fourth year running, the nationwide competition was originally called ‘So You Wanna Be A DJ’.

This year, the auditions began at school campuses and public venues in June to choose eight hopefuls who will be mentored by 987FM personalities.

They will then battle it out through on-air public voting where five finalists will be chosen for the final on August 30.

The winner will land a contract with 987FM and win attractive prizes.

Past winners of the contest include 987FM DJs Sonia Chew, Kimberly Wang and Singaporean Pop/R&B singer Tabitha Nauser, who won last year.

Judges for this year are Class 95FM DJ Mike Kasem, Lush 99.5FM DJ Rozz Lee and Assistant Programme Director for 987FM, Vanessa Fernandez.

Vice-President for English Programming – Music (Radio), Georgina Chang will be guest judging at the finale.
