
Malaysia’s leading English-language radio station, HITZ, is launching a nationwide search to discover the next generation of on-air talent through its latest campaign – NEXT ON HITZ. The initiative taps into digital creators across the country, reflecting how radio continues to evolve alongside digital platforms.
HITZ is part of Astro Audio’s network of 13 radio stations and remains the ultimate destination for hit music, trending sounds, and pop culture. With a growing digital presence of over 300,000 followers on TikTok, HITZ continues to lead as a multi-platform entertainment brand for young Malaysians.
More than just an announcer search, NEXT ON HITZ represents the future of media. Today’s most exciting personalities are being built on social platforms, where creativity, relatability, and audience connection matter more than ever. HITZ is embracing this evolution by giving aspiring announcers a real pathway from everyday content creator to professional broadcaster.
Entries are open from 6 – 24 April, 2026, to Malaysians aged 18 to 35. The search invites participants to submit their entries via TikTok by duetting a designated video on HITZ’s official TikTok page. Selected candidates will then be invited into an immersive, real-world radio experience at the All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
During this phase, shortlisted participants will be challenged, developed, and evaluated across multiple aspects of modern broadcasting — including voice work, on-air delivery, content creation, personality, and their ability to connect with audiences across platforms. This reflects the hybrid role of today’s radio talent, where digital presence and storytelling are just as important as being on-air.
Speaking on the launch, HITZ Station Manager, Sean Farrell Matjeraie, shared that the initiative is about redefining what it means to be a radio announcer in today’s media landscape.
“Radio talent today isn’t just about having a great voice — it’s about perspective, creativity, and the ability to connect with people wherever they are, especially on digital platforms. There’s an incredible wave of talent out there, and many of them just need the right opportunity to break through.”
He added: “NEXT ON HITZ is about opening that door. We’re not just looking for announcers — we’re looking for personalities who can represent the voice of a new generation and grow with the brand.”
