Star Radio CEO expands role

Malaysia’s Star Media Group has appointed its Star Radio Group CEO Calvin Kan as group Chief Operating Officer (COO).

53-year old Kan, a Bachelor of Arts graduate from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, first joined The Star in 1989 as a senior advertisement executive.

He has since held various managerial positions within the group, including that of Executive Vice President, print business, in 2013.

He currently sits on the boards of Rimakmur Sdn Bhd, Capital FM Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Newspaper Publishers Association.

Kan will continue to oversee the operations of The Star Radio Group comprising Red FM, Suria FM, 988 and Capital Radio.
