Malaysia’s Star Radio Group has seen digital listenership for its flagship Malay station Suria FM rise by more than 250 percent over the past year.
Figures released by streaming partner Radio Active show a rise to 458,000 unique listeners in September this year, compared with 176,000 over the same period last year.
Star’s Chinese station 988 saw online listening grow 84 percent over the past year to 371,000 listeners in September.
The company’s English station Red FM saw a 60 percent increase to 87,000 people.
Capital FM, the nation’s only female-targeted radio station, recorded an online listening rise to 18,863 in September 2013 compared to just 1,309 last September.
The digital figures come as the latest Nielsen radio audience measurement survey shows Star Radio Group now reaches 4 million listeners every week.
That research – conducted through diaries filled out by listeners – also took place in September.
