Star Radio Group’s (SRG) Chinese station 988 has achieved its highest listenership for 2 years, according to Nielsen’s Radio Audience Measurement survey.
988 reached 1.64 million listeners per week in September across the country and is the number one Chinese station in the northern region, reaching 622,000 listeners.
SRG says the station attracted more middle class listeners during the survey period in September.
Listeners with household income of RM 5,000 and above grew 37 percent to 188,000.
988’s morning and PM and drive shows also have the highest total Time Spent Listening (TSL) among all the Chinese radio stations in Malaysia, says the company.
Around 921,000 listeners spend a total of 4 hrs and 8 mins with the breakfast show each week while 959,000 people spend 3 hrs and 23 mins tuning into the drive show.
Asia Radio Today can’t verify or compare figures as the Nielsen research isn’t released publicly.
