iTunes Radio: What everyone is saying

Apple’s much awaited iTunes Radio will be launched in the US on September 18.

The company announced plans for its own Spotify-like streaming music service in June but refused to give a definite date.

Although it could be months or years before the app arrives in Asia, the roll-out is likely to be watched by regional executives with some uneasiness.

Streaming music users will hear an advert every 15 minutes on iTunes Radio and a video ad every hour from the likes of McDonalds, Pepsi and Nissan who have already signed up.

Alternatively, listeners can get ad-free music by subscribing to iTunes Match.

iTunes Radio will be available on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac, PC and Apple TV.

Users that have multiple devices will also benefit from having their stations stored on iCloud.

Here’s what some of the world’s media is saying about the launch with links to original articles.

Although the service has been much hyped within the digital industry, Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, spent just two minutes showing off the new app at a keynote presentation in California on Tuesday.
