World record for longest radio show smashed

Hit 96.7, owned by Arabian Radio Network, has broken the Guinness World Record for the ‘Longest Marathon for a Radio Music Show – Team.’

The Malayalam station’s RJs Sindhu and Mithun stayed on air live for 84 hours, beating the earlier world record of 77hr and 11 mins.

They broadcast their show Radio Active from a specially set-up broadcast stage at Lulu Al Barsha, a popular shopping venue in Dubai.

The show went live at 5pm on December 5 and the pair kept going until 5am on December 9.

Steve Smith, ARN’s Chief Operating Officer, praised the effort saying: “Our teams create world class entertainment and the phenomenal support from our listeners who attended this record breaking event proves the power of radio and our stance within this community.”

Hit 96.7 is the only 24-hour Malayalam Station in Dubai playing non-stop hits for expat Keralites, who make up the largest expat community in the UAE.
