World Radio Day: Special talk show on Radio Pakistan

Civil society people, culturists, intellectuals and disaster risk reduction experts are expected to participate in the special edition of Radio Pakistan Hyderabad’s talk Show “Rabta” about the role of radio in disaster management on World Radio Day (WRD).

WRD was proclaimed by UNESCO in 2011 to celebrate radio as a medium, improve cooperation between broadcasters and to encourage major networks and community radio alike to promote access to information, freedom of expression and gender equality over the airwaves.

This year, the UNESCO theme for WRD is ‘Radio in Times of Emergency and Disaster’.

Radio Pakistan Hyderabad is one of the major radio stations in the region.

It has played an important role in providing timely information to the survivors of different natural calamities including flood and cyclones.

During the Sindh flood 2010 and 2011 Radio Hyderabad was a major source of communication with the survivors.
