World premiere of rock radio movie in Paris

‘I Am What I Play’ – a full length documentary about the heyday of rock radio, will have its world premiere at this year’s Radiodays Europe conference in Paris.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, the rock radio DJ played an unprecedented creative role in the rock music world.

How has that role changed?

The film profiles four DJs in major markets during this period: their programming, their politics, and their deep connections with musicians and fans in the glory days of rock radio.

Where are they now — and how did they reinvent themselves as the medium changed?

The film’s producer and director Roger King will be present at the premiere on March 13 to explain the background to the film and discuss how the role of DJs has changed.
