Voice of Kinabalu is Malaysia’s latest home-grown station

Voice of Kinabalu (VOKfm) is the latest Malaysian home-grown radio station which officially began operating in September 2017 as an online radio.

The community-based radio station funded by independent local investors targets young listeners with the tagline “Bukan Biasa-Biasa” (Not the Ordinary).

Envisioned as a self-reliant, socially and economically sustainable future for all communities of Sabah, VOKfm covers topics ranging from customs and traditions to social-economic development, health, global and social trends.

It is expected to broadcast through an FM channel by the end of this year.

“VOK is short for Voice of Kinabalu which reflects VOKfm as a station which promotes Sabah to universal listeners,” said Chief Executive Officer-cum-Station Manager Mohammad Faqrullah Azim or Faqrul at the launch.

The station’s line-up of announcers includes Ramli Carlo, Beebey, Felix Agus, Roger (Saliparjipun), Rey Kimara, Aegy and Maldini.
