THR Raaga’s twin contests offer RM 40,000 cash prizes

Astro Radio Malaysia’s Tamil station THR Raaga is giving its listeners a chance to win more than RM 40,000 ($9000) worth of cash prizes, just by tuning in.

Starting March 27, two contests will go on air, driven primarily on the station’s Facebook page and Instagram.

The Konjam Paarthu Padengge contest will give away a total of RM20,000 ($4500).

Listeners have to check out four muted music videos recorded by the announcers daily, which will be posted on THR Raaga’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Then, the listener who is the first caller through after the cue to call, will need to guess and sing the muted song from the video that was posted during that hour.

Each correct guess will be rewarded with a cash prize of RM500.

If there are no winners for any hour, the prize money will snowball to the next segment.

The Peetikul Enna contest is giving away RM22,500 ($5070) worth of cash prizes.

Kaalakal Kaalai announcers, Anantha and Uthaya, will invite other fellow announcers and Malaysian artists to the studio where they will need to touch and describe, in 10 seconds, an unidentified item placed in a box while being blind-folded.

This description by the announcers will be video-recorded and uploaded on THR Raaga’s Facebook page for listeners to watch.

After watching, listeners must then call in to guess the correct answer.

There will be four contest segments from 6am to 12am each weekday. Daily winners will be announced after the final contest segment during the Inimai@Raaga segment from 7pm to 12 am.

Aa daily cash prize of RM1500 will be shared amongst daily winners.

These contests will run on Kalakal Kalai (6am to 10am), Hello Nanba (10am to 3pm), Hypermalai (3pm to 7pm) and Inimai@Raaga (7pm to 12am).

Content Manager of THR Raaga, Subramaniam Veerasamy said: “We are bringing our fans a new initiative with the intention of continue to engage with them on-air and on social. We hope this will solidity THR Raaga’s position as their preferred Tamil station.”
