Thailand radio revenues steady

Advertising spend on radio in Thailand fell slightly in the first nine months of the year, according to Nielsen Thailand.

newspaper reports that advertising agencies spent US$148 million (Thai Baht 4.63 billion) from January to September, down 0.94 percent.

Radio faired much better than other traditional media including cinema and outdoor, which saw double digit declines.

TV spend – which takes the lion share of advertising spend – climbed 2.6 percent, while online saw a 50 percent rise to US$21 million (Thai Baht 651 million).

Another growth channel was Transit Media including ads on buses and the Bangkok BTS Skytrain which climbed nearly 21 percent, albeit from a low base.

Overall ad spend in the first nine months was up 1.28 percent to US2.73 billion (Thai Baht 85.6 billion).
