Star-studded birthday bash for Howard Stern

Howard Stern, possibly the world’s most famous radio host, celebrated his 60th birthday on Friday with a host of famous US personalities.

Celebrities including Robert Downey, Heidi Klum, Fred Armisen, Rosie O’Donnell and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie wished Stern ‘happy birthday’ at the bash in New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Talk show host and the night’s emcee, Jimmy Kimmel, introduced Stern as a broadcaster who “did to radio what Picasso did to visual art.”

Comedian Sethy Meyers saluted Stern for entertaining “three generations of uncles who never got invited to family functions.”

The night’s many musical guests included Jon Bon Jovi, John Fogerty, Jewel, The Black Keys, Dave Grohl, Adam Levine and Steven Tyler.

Recalling his early days in radio when he wondered if he was ever going to make a living, he said he couldn’t have dreamed of a party.

The show, which is normally geo-locked and only available to Sirius satellite radio subscribers was made globally available for free.
