The project team at Sri Lanka’s MBC Networks – which owns Shakthi FM, Sirasa FM, Yes FM, Y FM and Legends FM, launched a campaign against dengue in the first week of October.

The iFightdengue initiative has the theme ‘Fight Dengue . Save Lives’.

Launched in association with the Health ministry and Education authorities, the campaign addresses school children to take the message back home to their parents.

Every day, the project team visits an Identified school in one of the towns identified by Health service authorities with the highest number of incidents of people affected by the deadly mosquito-borne disease.

Each morning at the school assembly – children are educated on dengue prevention to save lives.

Senior school prefects address the gathering and take a pledge together with all students to fight dengue and save lives.

A street theatre team at the venue also educates the children with a play.

This is followed by cleaning up the surrounding areas by the students and project team.
