Singapore PM drops into Capital FM at Mediacorp’s new campus

Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore, visited the Mediacorp campus for a tour of Capital 95.8 FM, ChannelNewsAsia newsroom and Channel 8’s drama set last week.

The campus, which was launched by Loong almost one and a half years back during the SG50 celebrations, will be offering guided tours for the public from June.

Mediacorp had been based at Caldecott Hill since 1937, and this year, after much planning and construction, the new site at Mediapolis was ready for occupation, 80 years after the first transmissions from Caldecott Hill.

With a Gross Floor Area (GFA) of 80,000m2, 12 soccer fields can fit inside the new MediaCorp Campus. It has a state-of-the-art theatre with acoustics to rival the world’s best concert halls and a majestic 50-step staircase that leads to a grand vista overlooking the media park. The building was been designed by award-winning Japanese architect Maki & Associates, with the latest green environmental principles in mind.

Mediacorp has 12 FM radio licenses and serves Singapore with a range of commercial and non-commercial networks. The new campus has 14 radio studios.
