Chris Schneider, a jock with Monster Radio RX 93.1, Manila, is among the eight finalists for the next MTV Philippines VJ hunt.

Schneider hosts the mid morning show ‘Drive Thru’ and the ‘Remix Fridays’ on weekends on the station.

According to The Philstar, Schneider joined the competition to take his career to the next level.

In spite of a broadcasting background, Schneider believes it is not much of an advantage, as he told the publication: “It was a bit of culture shock, seeing how everyone watches you while you speak.”

Schneider and other finalists will be given different challenges in a three-episode program, the first of which was aired on Wednesday.

The audience will decide the winners through a text vote.

Other finalists include Kito Romualdez – an ex banker and a VIVA recording artist, while the remaining five are fresh faces.

These are student-athlete Erika Westly, student-blogger Aryanna Epperson, judo fighter Anton Mercado and Mickey Regala.

The winner will be announced on October 3, at an event at the Le Pavillion, Manila.

Local artists Erik Santos, Spongecola, Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo will also perform at the event.
