Association for International Broadcasting (AIB) has announced the winners of its 13th annual awards for factual content.
Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) won in the Arts and Culture – Audio category for The Symphony of Sounds. It tells the story of one of the world’s most densely-populated cities with a focus on today and yesterday, taking the audience to parts of the city they may not have explored themselves.
Radio Taiwan International won the News Feature – Audio Award for its programme Rainbows in the Sunlight – Lesbians’ Children in Taiwan. It addressed the topical subject of Taiwan’s legalisation of same-sex marriages and featured children and families affected by the decision.
Radio Free Asia’s My Son, I’s So Sorry!!! was highly commended by the jury in the same category. It told the stories of North Korean mothers who have left their children behind as they defected to South Korea through China.
BBC Radio Bristol won the Human Interest – Audio category for The Story of the Bamboo Club.
Living Planet – The Road to Renewables produced by Deutsche Welle won the Continuing News Coverage – Audio category, while BBC Radio Current Affairs won the Investigatove – Adudio category for Stealing Innocence in Malawi.
New Zealand’s John Campbell won the Presenter of The Year – Audio Award.
