Registrations open for ABU DBS 2021 virtual event

Registrations are open for the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2021, which will take place from April 5 to 8.

For the first time, it will be a wholly online event because of the ongoing global pandemic.

Organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the symposium is a leading event for broadcasters in the region and beyond.

This year’s theme 'Inspire, Engage & Enhance' will address technology solutions and effective content ideas for the current media landscape.

It will comprise a four-day conference with a total of 12 sessions, one workshop on each day and an exhibition also lasting four days.

The conference sessions will focus on topics of strong interest to broadcasters. Key topics of discussion include:

•    Advanced Technologies for the New Era
•    Cloud Revolution in the media industry
•    5G Developments and Applications in Media
•    Advances in Media Delivery and Immersive Technologies
•    IP Technologies and Remote Production

The annual event usually takes place in Kuala Lumpur. Its main role is to help broadcasters make a smooth digital transition and showcase the latest range of technologies available to them.

When DBS was launched in 2005, a lot of Asian broadcasters had not yet started going digital. Many have now completed the process and others are still doing so. The symposium has shared that journey with them, growing steadily along the way.

Along with broadcasters, the symposium has faced the daunting challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. Last year it took place in Kuala Lumpur in March, just days before Malaysia went into lockdown.

And this year it goes online.

To register for the symposium, please visit www.abu.org.my/dbsymposium.

There is no charge for registration or to speak at the conference.
