Indian network 93.5 RED FM’s celebration of Bangla rock music—‘RED BANDSTAND Azaadi Festival’ culminated with the launch of ‘Aaaj ke Zamane ke –Azaadi Superhits’ album in Kolkata.

The month-long festival witnessed around 20 bands performances across the city with the central theme of ‘Azaadi’(Freedom).

One new music band was handpicked each weekend by iconic Kolkata bands Chandrabindoo, Anupam Roy Band, Fossils and Cactus who then mentored and collaborated with their prodigies to create original compositions.

The event aimed to bring Independent and upcoming musicians to the mainstream forefront and help bring fresh new music.

Kolkata Crossroads, Tamal & trip, Aporinoto and The Grooverz  were chosen to perform along with their mentors at the festival’s finale and contribute to a new album with original compositions.

The songs ranged from latin, pop, alternative to rock genres and will be aired by RED FM around India’s independence day on August 15.

Nisha Narayanan, COO, 93.5 RED FM said: “As Rock music is deep rooted within the culture of Kolkata, RED FM is proud to be presenting this opportunity and bringing the best talent of the Bangla rock music to the mainstream.
