Radio One India H1 revenues climb 21 percent

Next Radio Ltd which runs India’s Radio One has seen a near 21 percent rise in first half revenues, compared to the same period last year.

Radio One, a joint venture with BBC Worldwide, increased revenues from April to September to US$4.5 million (INR 28.07 crore).

EBIDTA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) profit grew 37 percent from to $1.49 million (INR 9.3 crore) as compared to last year’s first half.

Profit (before Interest and Tax) grew exponentially to $0.5 million (INR 3.17 crore) from $120,000 (INR 0.72 crore), a jump of 340 percent.

Q2 revenues climbed 12.58 percent from to $2.31 million (INR 14.14 crore) year on year, while Q2 EBIDTA grew 27 percent to $810,000 (INR 5.04 crore) and profit (before interest and tax) rose 110 percent  from to $320,000 (INR 1.97 crore).

Vineet Singh Hukmani, MD & CEO Next Radio said: “Despite a slow down in the economy, we continue to outgrow the market on profit margins due to our consistent differentiation strategy across all our 7 markets.”

“We have doubled the cash generated by the business this first half as compared to last year and with our debt retirement being on track, this opens doors for us to continue investing into our largest assets, our people, our product and future digital engagement strategies.”

Radio One operates differentiated formats in each of its markets.

It was the first to launch international formats in Mumbai and Delhi together 19 months ago, The first to launch Bollywood formats in regional markets of Bangalore and Pune 4 years ago, the

first to launch Hindi Retro formats in Ahmedabad and Kolkata 15 months ago as well as the first English talk 100 percent Tamil music request station in Chennai.
