Radio City Freedom Awards winners announced

 

Indian network Radio City 91.1 FM held the grand finale of the third edition of its ‘Freedom Awards’ to celebrate indie music in Mumbai.

The awards were categorized into the ‘Jury Choice’ and ‘People Choice’ awards.

The ‘Jury Choice Award’ across each category was judged by a power packed jury comprising of Luke KennyAtul Churamani, Yotam Agam, Nandini Srikar and Subir Malik.

Anand Bhaskar Collective walked away as the Best Rock Artist – Popular and Jury Choice while Aditya Balani was awarded the Best Pop Artist – Jury Choice.

Indian Ocean bagged the Best Folk Fusion Artist – Jury Choice and Mumbai’s Finest was the Best Hip-Hop Artist – Popular and Jury Choice.

The evening also saw Jainam, a budding musician from Gujarat’s Jamnagar walk away as the Best Electronica Artist – Jury Choice.

 The theme for the awards this year was ‘Music and Beyond’ and featured a special performance by Spoken Word artist Rakesh Tiwari who was accompanied by violinist Ramya Pothuri.

 There were also performances by Swarathma, Alobo Naga and The Band, Ganesh Talkies, Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Café and Laxmi Bomb.

 Speaking on the award night, Rachna Kanwar, EVP & Business Head, Digital Media & New Business, Radio City 91.1 FM, said: “There is immense talent all across the country that is waiting to be heard and we are happy to take their music to millions of listeners through our web radio, Radio City Freedom. We truly believe that Indie music deserves to be heard and celebrated.”
