India’s Radio City 91.1 FM has announced the top 5 nominees across categories for the 3rd edition its Freedom Awards – a platform to recognize and reward independent music artists across genres and languages.
Some of the shortlisted nominees include Brodha V, Indian Ocean, Midival Punditz, Benny Dayal, Nucleya, Demonic Resurrection, Laxmi Bomb and Faridkot.
The awards are which is now open for public voting till February 21.
Listeners can now see the Top 5 nominees across categories and vote for their favorite indie artists and bands for the ‘Popular Choice Awards’ on www.planetradiocity.com/rcfa.
The categories include Best Hip-Hop Rap Artist, Best Folk Fusion Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Rock, Best Metal, Best Electronica Artist, Best Video, Best Album Art, Best Young Indie Artist/Band, Best Indie Collaboration of the year and Indie Genius- Person of the year.
This theme for this year’s awards is ‘Music and Beyond’ which will showcase spoken word artists in a special segment in the grand finale.
The ‘Jury Choice Award’ across each category would be judged by a panel comprising of Luke Kenny, Atul Churamani, Yotam Agam, Nandini Srikar and Subir Malik.
The award night will take place in Mumbai on February 24.
