Suharti Ali was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the MediaCorp Radio Awards in Singapore on Friday night.

Ali is a household name in the Malay community specifically to radio listeners of Warna 94.2FM.

Having spent more than 36 years in radio broadcasting, Suharti has to her credit a wealth of experience in many areas of the job.

Since the late 70s Suharti has developed a large fan base as a popular radio producer presenter.

Bubbly and witty on air, Suharti also showed her diverse skills and talents in other areas of presentation.

Thus it was almost inevitable that Suharti became a sought-after host on stage and even television.

She was in fact, the lovely host who greeted viewers daily on the Malay TV channel back in the 70s and 80s.

Other than presentation work, Suharti possessed a strong leadership quality which saw her taking on the challenging task of setting up a brand new Malay Youth Station – Ria 89.7FM, on 1 December 1990.

She was responsible for talentscouting, grooming and selecting the 7 DJs who became the pioneer batch for RIA.

With her warm demeanor, she remains one of the preferred trainers for Radio Academy. She trains, develops and mentors talents and new colleagues till today.

Suharti is happily married to husband, Ibrahim Jamil, a retired Warna 94.2FM’s radio personality. They have 4 teenaged children.
