PlanetRadiocity launches seven new stations for old music

Indian network Radio City’s web platform PlanetRadiocity.com, announced the launch of seven new retro-themed web radio stations.

These include RC Hindi Gold, Lata Mangeshkar Radio, Kishore Kumar Radio and RD Burman Radio.

For the first time, retro programming in south Indian languages has been introduced on RC Kannada Gold, RC Tamil Gold, RC Telugu Gold

According to the network, the stations were launched on the basis of an extensive research which showed a liking for evergreen tunes.

With this launch, PlanetRadiocity.com now has a bouquet of 31 stations.

Speaking about the launch of the stations, Rachna Kanwar, COO – Jagran Digital said: “We have always been the frontrunners in the Web Radio space and by launching 7 new retro stations, Radio City has redefined the retro space online. We’ve been seeing a slew of launches in the retro genre in radio, but our Hindi-speaking audiences aren’t the only ones who love music from the 1960’s, ’70’s and ’80’s. Therefore, we decided to bring to our global audiences the unique offering of retro across languages.”

PlanetRadiocity.com has a wide audience nationally and internationally and through Radio City Gold it would strengthen the loyalty.

“The consumer insight indicates that retro music is consumed across geographies, languages, platforms and more importantly resonates with the digital generation and hence the launch of Radio City Gold,” said Abraham Thomas, CEO, Radio City 91.1FM.
