Moscow stops radio broadcast service in Hindi and Urdu

Moscow’s Radio Sputnik stopped its services in Hindi and Urdu from Wednesday, after broadcasting in both languages for 73 years.

Radio Sputnik is the audio division of Sputnik news, which replaced the Russian government’s international radio broadcasting service Voice of Russia in 2014.

It aims to operate in 30 languages for over 800 hours a day, covering over 130 cities and 34 countries on FM, digital DAB/DAB+, HD-Radio, mobile phones and the Internet.

The websites of Hindi and Urdu services will continue to offer diverse perspectives on international news to audiences speaking both languages.

Both websites are updated 24/7 with content produced by a team of experienced journalists, including videos, photo galleries, live streaming and internet surveys in addition to analysis, exclusive interviews and opinion pieces.
